Since there are so many things to discover and to experience in our area, at this point just a few ideas to the many possible destinations. In addition, we are prepared to offer our advice and practical help when you are planning your holiday activities.

Wild- und Freizeitpark Enghagen (wildlife & leisure park) - adjacent to the hotel (300 m) -

Pießling-Ursprung & Sensenwerk Roßleithen

Pießling Ursprung (source of the streamlet Pießling) - just a stone's throw away from Enghagen Manor - is a very special natural phenomenon and one of the largest karstic springs in Austria. This source does not appear quietly and unspectacularly at the surface. About 2.000 liters of water that drains away into the Warscheneck massif are pouring per second into the source basin and are streaming into the riverbed of the Pießling.

The steady flow of this great amount of water combined with a steeply sloping riverbed led in former times to the construction of many mills and scythe works at the upper reaches of the Pießling. You can visit the traditional "Sensenwerk Rossleithen" (scythe smithy Rossleithen) where still handmade scythes are produced.

Ehemaliges Stift Spital am Phyrn & Felsbildermuseum

Former Abbey Spital am Pyhrn (13 km):
The abbey church is a jewel of Austrian Baroque, in which great artists have immortalized themselves (decoration of the interior by Domenico Antonio Carlone and a highlight of Baroque church painting: the frescoes by Bartolomeo Altomonte).
The final grid, which is considered one of the most beautiful Austrian ironworks was made by Andreas Ferdinand Lindemayr in the Lindemayr-smithy. This traditional blacksmith's workshop ceased production in the 1950s. On the occasion of the Upper Austrian state exhibition 1998, it was renovated and reopened as a show smithery.
Austrian Rock Art Museum in the restored baroque rooms: the permanent exhibitions of the museum show rock carvings from the "Höll" (in the municipal area of Spital am Pyhrn) and from other Austrian and European rock carving sites.
Rock art from all continents is presented in special exhibitions.
The museum shop offers books, postcards, videos and attractive handicrafts.
Find out more about opening times and guided tours at the Abbey Church and the Rock Art Museum and blacksmith demonstrations in the Lindemayr-smithy.

A trip with the steam-powered "Steyrtal Museumsbahn" is certainly a most memorable pleasure. After the final cessation of the "Steyrtalbahn" (Austria's oldest narrow gauge line - 760 mm) in 1982, the Austrian Society of railway history succeeded in preserving a 17 km long section from Steyr to Grünburg and to put it into operation as a museum railway in 1985.

By stairs - passing the "good custodian" and the "Crystal Mine" - you will get into the Fairytale Cellars.
