Organic agriculture. Out of respect for nature.
Gut Enghagen is a recognized arche farm between the Kalkalpen National Park and the Totengebirge: We are home to ancient, rarely seen livestock breeds: Ennstaler Bergschecken, sometimes called Turopolje pigs, Altsteirer chickens, and Alpine stone sheep. Breeds that are almost no longer found and that we have preserved through our work. You can find all about the concept of arche farms in Austria at arche-hof.at.
With us, you can not only encounter the animals, observe them and attack them. We are happy to show you how agriculture works and how much care goes into one of the state-accredited control stations. Biokontrollservice Austria A tested and certified organic farm is involved.

Archahof. To attack.
All around, there are only fields of flowers and forests; a panorama straight out of a picture book and the scent of fresh hay – organic farming couldn’t be more beautiful. And you are right in the middle of it all!

Horses & Ponies
Nine horses, including Huzulen pony Schoko, Norican stallion Josef and Lipizzan mare Fanni, are at the Enghagen farm. So, off to the saddle for our riding lessons and rides in nature!

Ennstaler Bergschecken
Six cows and their offspring are on the pasture in the summer. We would be happy to visit there with you.
You can find everything about alpine farming in Austria here. almwirtschaft.com.

Turopolje pigs
We also have pigs on our farm from time to time. Bibi and Tina are currently living here; they are spotted Turopolje pigs, one of the oldest and rarest pig breeds in Europe.

Alpine Stone Sheep
Say "Servus" to Hofschaf Rosi. By the way, Rosi prefers to be out in the middle of the farm and was raised by Barbara with the bottle.

Oldest Steiermark chickens
Our chickens lay their eggs wherever it suits them best. If you feel like it, you can go out and find your own breakfast egg and bring the fresh eggs into the kitchen.

Vienna Rabbits & Co.
Our farm wouldn't be complete without Ruby the dog and Frizi the cat. Not even if a curious rabbit would be watching around the corner or a trout would be grabbing food in the pond. Keep your eyes and ears open, there is much to discover!
We work to the rhythm of nature. Our animals live in a natural environment, receive good food and have the space they need.

Completely logical. Biologically.
Our archeological site is not an exhibition. Our work is not just about observing and attacking, but also about understanding: how the state-recognized control authority does it. Biokontrollservice Austria Certified and audited organic farming works where healthy, regional food comes from, why old breeds are valuable, and why respect is an important part of our work.
This is also reflected in our kitchen: we value regional ingredients with a high organic content – the beef and the Turopolje ham, for example, come from our own organic farming. We catch fresh trout in our own pond and obtain milk, bread and cheese from reliable, regional partners. This is completely logical for us as farmers and we are happy to show you this during our farm tours.
