Horse riding gets everyone in the mood. With us, anyone who wants to can hone their riding skills. Or try out the feel of riding. Or start riding. Or get back on a horse. Or saddle up and ride to the mountain pasture. When it comes to horseback riding, Barbara is firmly in her saddle here at the stables. And of course our riding instructors Nici and Sarah. Senior manager Manfred takes over the hiking horseback tours, for example during a sunrise ride.

We ride horses all year round, using the English riding style.

What our school horses especially love: grooming, petting and cuddling. At our farm you can choose your favorite pet to be groomed and pampered on horseback. Or help with the work in the stables.

Whether you want to improve your English riding skills, get back into riding, start over, or just try something new. Our riding instructors, horses, and ponies will support you exactly where you are and what you want to achieve. It’s perfect if you’re a beginner or already advanced.

Horseback rides & hikes in the mountains

Free rides on horses through our beautiful mountain valleys, through ancient forests, or on adventurous trails: that is something that does good to every soul. And it requires courage and skill. One-hour or multi-hour guided rides are possible, leading up to a day trip to the mountain pasture. Depending on the weather.

From 4 to 6 years old

Horse Riding Education

In a playful and safe way, the little ones experience what is so important for horseback riding later on: gaining confidence, relaxation, balance and body awareness. This is the pedagogical reason behind it. In equestrian pedagogy, children primarily experience imagination, adventure, movement and play. At our farm, the little ones are also allowed to ride ponies for free if the parents are the ones leading the pony.

Nici and Sarah are on hand at our farm for English riding lessons. Both are highly qualified and have years of experience as riders and trainers. And most importantly, they are patient, empathetic, and convey confidence by providing the best possible support to the rider-horse pair.

Our horseback riding lessons on the outdoor riding arena, in the standard size of 40 x 20 m, are already quite close to riding in nature. You look over meadows and at the beautiful mountain panorama of the Haller Wall. While doing so, you enjoy the mountain air, have sunshine on your face and the wind in your back.

And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we’ll switch to the spacious riding hall.

Tip: On Saturdays, we usually head out into nature early in the morning for a sunrise ride. Don't miss it!

Josef

Noriker-Tigerchecke, a horse for big and small

Our „Pippi-Langstrumpf-Pferd“ is an Austrian Noriker-Tigerschecke, a protected horse breed. Therefore he fits so well into our Archehof. Josef is almost always present at the stable, at the riding arena or during the rides. He is also very popular as a riding horse. He clearly enjoys the grooming massage and is naturally happy about carrots.

Fanni

Lipizzan mare, former „Farma 74“ from the Piper Stud Farm

The Lipizzaner has been bred continuously in Europe as the only breed for more than 450 years. The Piber Stud plays an important role in this. And of course our noble Fanni, who comes from there, too. She has given birth to three foals at the Stud. And: she is the mother of the only tricolor Lipizzaner foal, a „lucky foal“. Her horse training took place there, incidentally, with the best instructors. Fanni is therefore happy to have experienced riders at our Stud. When riding, she remains relaxed. And she would most like to enjoy extensive grooming all day long.

Jack

Icelandic-Shetty mix, loves circus lessons

The „Süße“ likes to braid his mane. He is also extra clever and doesn’t use extra-secure doors to get around. He is usually present at the riding arena or during rides and has already accompanied many young riders on their first steps. His parade discipline is circus lessons: for example, hanging a Hula Hoop ring from the ground around his neck, sitting on the ground next to the ring and eating popcorn together.

Charly

Mini Pony, for the little ones

Hard to believe, but the snow-white Charly was born here at Gut Enghagen as a black-and-white foal. He walks the 4-6-year-olds when their parents lead him and is especially active in equestrian education. He likes to play with his friend Jack on the meadow and sometimes sneaks through the fence. In search of more food.

Filly

Austrian warm-blooded mare, for advanced riders

Filly, the Fine one, is spirited, sweet and sometimes a little shy. She was previously ridden in the dressage ring, not with us, and has not yet gotten to know the big, wide world very well. That is why Barbara often says: „Sometimes you see ghosts, Filly.“ Now she goes ahead in the rides and shows everyone the way.

Sophal

Haflo-Arber mare, just in case

Sophal is diligent and spirited at the riding arena, completely like her father, and at the same time always friendly. Children as well as adults can ride her. She also does well at working on the longe. And when she goes for a ride, she is always happy to be there. So she is a perfect partner for all occasions.

Chocolate

Huzulen horse, terrain expert

Originally from the Huzulei in the Eastern Carpathians, these small horse breeds are now among the endangered domestic animal breeds in Austria. Perfect for our Ark Farm. Schoko is friendly, comfortable, safe on terrain, and attentive. He is usually with us at the riding arena. And also on horseback rides – but he prefers to stay on the edge. Therefore: First time in the field? Definitely with Schoko.

Lina

Haflinger mare, beautiful and gentle

Lina is suitable for both children and adults. The fine is very sensitive and prefers it when the riders treat her nicely and gently. All riders, especially those on the longe, enjoy her soft and comfortable steps. She likes to go out into the field and is happy about any carrot she gets.

Luki

Ungarisches Warmblut, Schmeichler in Ausbildung

Our youngest has only been here at Gut Enghagen since 2024 and is from Hungary. He has not yet had much experience under saddle and therefore is only ridden by the riding instructors or advanced riders. However, he is very happy about a snack or extensive cuddling sessions.

Pick up where you are.

Your individual lesson is entirely up to you. How you want to experience our horses and hone your skills: in the dressage ring, on the jumping course, in the lunging or ground work.
